Code Pilot

The Code Pilot is a programmable Technic brick from the Barcode Multi-Set (8479, 1997). The 12×8×4 brick has 6 AA cells, a couple of buttons, a barcode scanner / light sensor, and 2 wire contacts, and controls one motor with 2 passive inputs. Its optical input accepts both printed barcodes and VLL.

How to control it today

It uses the same VLL optical encoding as the Micro Scout family — the Code Pilot actually came first (1997 vs the Micro Scout's 1999) and has its own instruction set, but the low-level protocol matches — though only the Micro Scout has been tested hands-on.

Programmable actions include changing motor speed, running the motor on a sensor trigger, and playing sounds.
