Powered Up
Powered Up is LEGO's current control system (2018+), comprising hubs (Move/City/Technic/SPIKE), motors, sensors, and lights, all programmed over Bluetooth Low Energy using the LEGO Wireless Protocol (LWP) rather than an optical link. Its optical parts are sensors and lights only, with no optical command channel.
Optical parts
Sensors (input):
- Color & Distance Sensor (88007) — the Boost sensor. Emits light and reads 6 colours + object distance ~5–10 cm (IR reflection). It can also be used as a light emitter / for simple IR signalling between two sensors. Connects to Move Hub (88006) / Hub (88009).
- Distance Sensor (SPIKE/Technic) and earlier WeDo motion sensor — IR reflection proximity.
- Color Sensor (SPIKE) — emits R/G/B, reads colour + reflected/ambient light.
Light (output):
- Light 88005 — a pair of LEDs, hub-controlled. Output only, not comms.
Relation to this vault
All of these are sensing or lighting, controlled by the hub over BLE — there's no optical command/programming channel like VLL or the PF IR remote. Exact emitter wavelengths aren't officially published (community: visible for colour ID + near-IR for proximity).
