Bionicle Manas

8539 Manas (2001) is a pair of remote-controlled Bionicle/Technic "Rahi" robots. Each crab-like Manas has motor bricks driven by a battery-powered IR remote, making it an optically-controlled device.

Optical input

• Controlled over the 76 kHz IR protocol (same family as Spybotics).
• 3 selectable frequencies/channels (set by a dial on each Manas + matching controller), so up to 3 run at once; the controller also has a 4th "all" option.
• Power: 3× AA per Manas + 3× AA per controller.

How to control today

Replicate the 76 kHz signals with an Arduino/LIRC IR emitter — see 76 kHz IR family and github.com/JorgePe/ir-spybotics. Needs a 76 kHz carrier (a 38 kHz PF emitter won't work).
